Mr. Barrack Obama was elected President of the United States in November, 2009 to succeed George W. Bush. 
 
President Obama has pledged to end the Iraq war and bring our country out of recession.

 
 

Iraqi and U.S. officials announced June 8 that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of al-Qaeda's terror operations in Iraq,
was killed by a U.S. airstrike. Zarqawi played a major role in
escalating the Iraq insurgency and terror attacks on civilians. 

 
 

In September 23, 2005 Hurricane Rita followed a mere three weeks after Katrina. 
It was feared that Rita would hit land as a category 5 storm and completely 
destroy our energy production around Houston, TX.  Thankfully that did not 
occur as Rita weakened just in time to a category 2 storm. Most of our 
energy supplies and production facilities were spared. There was a large 
amount of damage to this already hard hit Gulf Coast, however, as many homes 
and even whole towns and cities were lost to this storm. The cleanup process 
will take years and billions of dollars. 

        On August 29, 2005 the most terrible natural disaster ever to hit 
New Orleans completely devestated this and other Gulf Coast cities.  
The city was totally destroyed and there have been estimates of as many 
as 1,500 persons killed from this storm.  Many thousands more are now 
refugees and have been transported to holding areas from Houston, Tx to El Paso, NM.  
President Bush said it will be years before things get back to normal 
and puts a price tag on the disaster to more than 100 Billion dollars.  
This disaster is being compared to a a nuclear bomb. 

         
        The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute To our 
fallen comrades. So since we are part of the only Marine Infantry Battalion left 
in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is  By taking a picture of 
Baker Company saying the way we feel. It would be awesome if you could find a 
way to share this with our fellow countrymen. I was wondering if there was 
any way to get this into your papers to let the world know that "WE HAVE NOT 
FORGOTTEN" and are proud to serve our country." Semper Fi

         On Saturday the 13th of December 2003 the reign of Saddam Hussein finally 
         and completely came to an end.  He was captured in a small town near Tikrit, Iraq. 
         He was hiding in a hole in the ground that was hidden from captors.  It was uncovered 
         during a complete and final search.  Saddam gave up without a shot being fired.  
         His photo at time of capture shows a very weary, bearded Saddam.  He was captured 
         with $750,000 in American Dollars, two AK-47 assault rifles and a taxi.  Two other 
         accomplices were also captured with him. 

Saddam Hussein and Iraq had been warned for nearly a year that action against 
the regime would happen unless they complied with the 10 year old U.N. Sanctions to remove
all weapons of mass destruction.  They didn't and after much useless wrangling in the U.N.
Security Council, and with France in Particular, the U.S. and Great Britain took action.
This action resulted in the war of Iraqi Freedom and lasted only 3 weeks (March-April 2003).
Again, this war was won in a very short time with overpowering force and minimum allied and
US casualties.  The regime of Saddam Hussein was ended. 

                  Year 2002 marked the first response in our War on Terror.  Our troops
invaded Afghanistan and routed Al Queda and the Taliban in short order and with very minimal
Casualties.  Our President, George W. Bush clearly stated our intentions to go after any regime
that harbored terrorists and terrorist activities.  Hello Saddam Hussein !
